A risk flagged in the study: the middle-income trap. Countries that depend too long on imitation, without building innovation capacity and institutions, might stagnate.

🚀 Policy takeaway: boost R&D, foster creativity, strengthen institutions — or face being left behind.

Zeynalov uses a fresh metric: Economic Complexity Index rather than just total factor productivity. Examined data from 95 countries (1995–2019), uncovered two thresholds:

- the moment imitation contributes less than innovation
- the point where imitation actually slows #growth

👨‍🏫 Teachers:
➖ 25% are 55+
➖ Physics, ICT & English face the worst shortages
In physics, only 70% of lessons are taught by qualified teachers.

Without new talent, classrooms risk being empty – or filled with unqualified staff.

👩‍⚕️ Nurses: average age 48.2.
18% of them are already 60+.
By 2030, 🇨🇿 will lack 5,000+ nurses.

Solution? Double the number of graduates from 1,600 → 3,450 per year. But that requires admitting 5,200 students annually.

📊 Insights that can guide both policy and strategy.

The approach is universal and flexible—useful for academia and practice, in Europe and beyond.

It combines a modified TOPSIS method with bilinear ordering.
Why does this matter? Because it lets us:
✅ evaluate sustainability & living standards objectively
✅ map each country’s development position
✅ explore future scenarios
vsecz.bsky.social
How can we measure living standards and sustainability across countries? 🌍
There’s still no single model that makes comparisons truly fair.

That’s why an international research team – Aleksandra Łuczak, Klára Čermáková, Sławomir Kalinowski, Eduard Hromada & Michal Mec – developed a new methodology.
