You'd be surprised what a boat ride and a beer does for your stress.

Wait until it's on the Charles and *that's your commute home*.

Who's been there? We have. Over and over. One of the reasons we started Wada Hoppah.
traffic so bad i can walk home faster than the bus can get me there

More, cheaper batteries means more miles we can go, meaning more people we can take, meaning less cars in Boston on the roads and les CO2 in our air. Woot!
Battery storage just hit a watershed moment: $51/kWh in China, down 30% in 12 months. While fossil fuels get slower & pricier, batteries are getting cheaper and better. This isn’t a trend—it’s now a rupture. Solar + storage is now the default for new energy. Everywhere. ⚡📉 #BESS #EnergyTransition
“Watershed moment:” Big battery storage prices hit record low in huge China auction
Huge China auction delivers another stunning fall in battery storage prices. It is being hailed as a potential tipping point for “round the clock” renewables.

We all need more water transportation, esp. if it is zero emissions water transportation.

Boat rides bring down stress levels, whether they are for commuting or simply enjoying yourself.

Our goal is to get you to decompress for your commute, rather than arrive home angrier and more exhausted.

While improving water transportation can't help ALL of this, it can definitely help a portion of it going West to East into and out of Boston, and because Wada Hoppah is made in Mass, so NO CUSTOMS.
If we scaled our e-ferry production, you'd see a lot of traffic on Storrow & Memorial drop way off.
Neither the #mapoli MBTA @mbta.com nor @massgovernor.bsky.social have a solution for this. In the meantime service degrades & riders suffer. Reports from @deehan.bsky.social @jersiegel.bsky.social

If someone ever wonders what it's like starting a ferry company, it's hard AF.

If anyone wonders what it's like starting a zero emissions ferry company on a river that hasn't been used in 100 years, it's beyond hard AF. You have to borderline be a masochist to want to try.

Guess we are.

Soon you'll have the ability to cool off being on a river going to and from home or work, and not stuffed into a hot sweaty, MBTA train. In and of itself, this will be a game changer for the summer in Boston, especially for those who live in the six river abutting cities west of it.

If they can do it, WE can do it! LFG!!
Love this story about indigenous youth kayaking on the newly restored Klamath River: "kayakers will.. pass salmon swimming upstream in places that the fish had not been able to reach since the early 1900s."

(Inspiration for removing defunct dams on the Charles!)

There's a bill being discussed now to decrease carbon emissions by limiting how cars can drive.

While we normally support anything to decrease emissions, it would be a better use to support zero emissions water transportation which would, at-scale, SERIOUSLY DECREASE TRAFFIC AND VEHICLE BASED CO2.

New route map drop. Kendall Sq. North Point has been added.

We need to decarbonize everything we possibly can and immediately. A global ecosystem collapse is a real possibility if we don't.
Irreversible tipping points in the climate system — like the melting of Arctic ice sheets or the wide-scale collapse of coral reefs — are closer than scientists previously believed.
Earth is likely to cross a key climate threshold in two years
A new World Meteorological Organization report spells the end of the world’s most famous climate goal.

😍 You got that right. And, it's going to be even better when it has zero-emissions inland water transportation!
Boston is legit a brilliant city

Boats rides help you destress.

In this environment, we all need more boat rides.

Bonus that they're zero emissions.

Interesting fact! Did you know parts of the Charles River had a dedicated ice breaker? It's true. The Henry Maurer was tasked with making sure the lower basin and Broad Canal in Cambridge were always navigable and ice free so coal could always be delivered to the Cambridge power plant down river.

Many people have forgotten how big shipbuilding was in Boston in the 20th century. This is the Charlestown Navy Yard during World War Two. That's an aircraft carrier.
We believe our history of making ships that won WW2 here can be recreated to make the best electric ferries America has to offer.
May 6, 2025 at 6:59 PM
What if that was a zero emissions boat? And could help you avoid traffic at the same time?
okay Bostonians I need to befriend someone with a boat

While we can't announce the details, Wada Hoppah just received HUGE news today that will enable us to give Boston and its surrounding cities zero-emissions water transportation that much quicker.
Get ready, Mass, clean ferries are coming.
April 29, 2025 at 5:49 PM
Gee, if only there were a non road based, zero emissions way to get from Cambridge to Boston and back soon. Oh wait, there is. And it's coming this summer.

No traffic, no CO2, no delays. And the commute will be pure bliss with a nice view.
Cambridge firefighters say they are investigating "a reported extinguished fire in the tunnel, inbound from Porter to Harvard."

Red Line service is being replaced by shuttles between Alewife and Park Street.
BREAKING: The MBTA says Red Line trains are paused between Park Street and Alewife while Cambridge officials investigate reports of smoke between Harvard and Porter Squares.

What a fun day! Thanks to Emily, Audrey, and the whole CRWA team for putting it together. Wada Hoppah is proud to support CRWA's mission. A healthy Charles River adds immense value to the area and its residents and is top of mind as we build our zero emissions, wakeless ferry and commuter service.

It's irritating how in the middle of the winter when we tried to get ahold of people to prep for our service, they were no where to be found.

Now that the weather is nice and the potential for boat is real, we get emails from these same people who ignored us asking, "How's your ferry thing going?"

It’s unthinkable that with 50-100,000 people 4 blocks away at the Marathon finish line who have to deal with at-capacity trains or walking long distances through closed streets that this empty river and unused dock are not a major transportation means on #MarathonMonday.
Next year, it will be. 🛥️💚

A small piece of good news, low carbon sources, by which we mean renewables plus nuclear, have now reached 40.9% of the world's total electricity generation.

The last time we had 40% low carbon power was in the 1940s!

50% is right around the corner if we keep at this fight!

Boston was the birthplace of the revolution.

And, it'll be the birthplace of the electric ferry revolution, too.

It’s the perfect 70 degree sunny day for the Red Sox home opener and womp, instead of having fun at the bars ahead of the game, you’re stuck sitting in miles long traffic on Storrow Dr.
Now, who wants a stress free, emissions-free way to get to the game that doesn’t involve ever touching a road? 🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️
