Some far-right MAGA Republicans are openly calling for President Donald Trump to seek a third term in 2028, including "War Room" host Steve Bannon and Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tennessee) — despite the fact that the U.S. Constitution's 22nd Amendment clearly states that "no person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice." Others on the right, however, are arguing that because Trump is now 79 and will turn 82 in 2028, the GOP needs to be thinking about a post-Donald Trump future. And Republicans being mentioned as possible presidential candidates for 2028 range from Vice President JD Vance to Secretary of State Marco Rubio to Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin. Another Republican who is being mentioned as a possibility for 2028 is Eric Trump, presently serving as executive vice president of the Trump Organization and CEO of World Liberty Financial. This could lay the groundwork for a future candidacy — be that from Eric or another family member." Eric Trump, in a late August interview, told Nikkei Asia he is open to a presidential run in 2028. The president's son said, "I'm not ruling it out. I'm not saying no, but I'm also not saying yes."
