Deactivated Instagram, Threads, and, after nearly 20 years, FB. After I’m confident of my backups they’ll be deleted. I’ll be weening myself off Messenger and WhatsApp next. Zuck’s lost the plot and my business. I can choose to not be a cog in an unjust, unethical, and immoral machine. Facts matter.

Normally it’s dark by now. Love Daylight Saving time. We should never leave it.

@ronsexsmith.bsky.social's new album is giving me all the feels. My uncle unexpectedly passed a few weeks ago, and the song House of Love feels like the perfect song to encapsulate my memory of him. Ron, you've done it again! See you in April in Melbourne. www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxvd...

I'm sorry, worldwide, irrevocable, non-exclusive, transferable permission to my voice and likeness? For what now? In any manner for any purpose???

This is in academia/.edu's new ToS, which you're prompted to agree to on login. Anyway I'll be jumping ship. You can find my stuff at hcommons.org.

So glad. It’ll be interesting what actors we may or may not see again (without spoiling the finale).

Among all the other epistemological harms caused by the hasty & uncritical adoption of these tools, it feels much riskier to collaborate with other people unless you all can firmly agree on whether languaging tools just make documents with relevant language or somehow magically make "knowledge".

Had the best vacation over the last week in Cape Tribulation and Palm Cove. Today we ventured into town and the Cairns Festival provided the perfect end to a wonderful week away.

I wish Apple would ban @jamfsoftware.bsky.social from being installed on its systems. Jamf basically allows Macs to function like PC's in 2004, restarting randomly and without notice. Also, the MS Word update is not THAT urgent.
