Actually, I'd prefer to have a talented professional record my stuff.
Bronson Pinchot does brilliant work as a narrator. I've liked every audiobook he's ever done.
I sometimes fantasize about querying him about fees.

I know the feeling.

The narrating author knows how the story should properly flow and sound, the pacing and pauses.

I think the best author reading his own work is Jeff Lindsay of the "Dexter" novels.
He gets "psychotic serial killer" to an astonishing degree, I imagine.

Agree.
I've got a pleasant reading voice and I've tried to record some of my novella, but I get too involved, too out of breath, and too thirsty.

It takes practice and talent, but I think an author reading their own work ought to be the ultimate treat for the reader.

Exactly. eBooks and audiobooks.

I agree.
I have 2 novellas about a secondary character from my main novel.
I didn't expect to become so fascinated by what was virtually throwaway character but she grew on me.
I wish editors were into publishing short novels\novellas I've queried, but the short length is a hurdle.

That was it. Thanks for supplying the title, I will listen to it again to hear your very talented read.

I know it takes time; I've tried narrating my own novella for a podcast I'd like to do.

I don't know what you're working on now, but chapter reads little by little works. Time will pass anyway.

In the back of my head, I've been puzzling over this and I'm remembering an anthology where you narrated (quite well) a story about a robot.
Apologies, I can't remember the audiobook title, but at the time I thought you'd be a smash narrating your own work. Have you been tempted to do so?

From your data, quite possibly the author is Henry Kuttner, who was a prolific writer in the 1950s.

I've been watching a lot of old horror movies with Cushing in them and he's always a very snappy dresser.

*Requiring* it?
Shameless of them to take away the consumer's choice. I'm sure you're correct about it being more for their protection than the customer's.
Same as the app situation: more benefit for the company than the customer.

I worked for big tech and people calling in for help had the *most* trouble with 2-factor authentication.
If you lose access to the codes needed, you're screwed.

I *never* use it.
