why did I buy this again
A large Big Keys LX keyboard on a blue desk. The keyboard is grey, with large beige keys. It is a standard QWERTY layout, but the keys are not offset like a standard keyboard. It has arrow keys on the right alongside caps lock, control, insert, delete and escape.

my distain for Evri grows with every passing second
An Evri parcel tracking page. The tracking info states that at 10:11 on November 4th, Evri were expecting the parcel. Then, at 10:26 the same day, they recieved it at the ParcelShop. These are the only two tracking events.

no way, a BBC extension cable

turns out someone also upgraded it at some point as the DIP socket for the (notoriously failure-prone) "DiskOnChip" was empty and there was a Transcent IDE flash module plugged into the IDE connector, with power being pulled from the "front panel display" port that this model doesn't use
A small black plastic device labelled "Transcend 40-pin IDE Flash Module (64MB)". There is a red and black power cable coming out of the top of the device, and a female IDE connector on the bottom.

yeah pretty much, the motherboard is also propriatary and basically impossible to find replacements for without cannibalising another unit, so fixing this is basically the only option
The inside of a computer. The motherboard has an empty DIP socket on the top left, next to three unoccupied PCI slots. There is another PCB with four XLR sockets connected via a ribbon cable in the top right. there is a floppy drive on top of the motherboard in the bottom right. There is a smaller daughter board on the bottom left of the motherboard containing a CPU (covered by a heatsink) and an Intel PCIset chip. The daughter board has two yellow ground wires connected to the main pcb. A small daughter board attached to a larger pcb. The daughter board contains a cpu covered by a heatsink, an Intel PCIset chip, and two NEC branded ram chips. The board has two yellow grounding wires which are connected to the main pcb.

one *very responsible* eBay purchase later and I am now the owner of a complete Strand 300 series lighting console
