I joined the Green Party because my previous political affiliations have consistently failed to deliver on their climate goals and social issues that are having massive detrimental effects on my community. We need to make rapid progress to stop the planet from cooking. We don’t agree on everything but that’s the great thing about a democratic party.

These aren't the values that their party tells us that they represent.

Nobody wants to see those seeking asylum stuck in hotels.

But the answers aren't to throw around divisive rhetoric or to kick the can down the road and bury our heads in the sand.

We were aghast to see a Tory councillor throwing around dog whistle phrases like "fighting age men" and "dumping ground for illegal migrants" in the Wakefield Council meeting yesterday.

What was most dismaying though was seeing a sea of Labour hands going up in support of the motion concerning the

Wakefield Labour councillors with the hands raised.

We even have a Reform mayor in Yorkshire calling for us to start fracking the region under the guise of it "creating jobs".

(Surprise, surprise, no mention of the jobs that investment in renewables brings us though!)
