Then I saw a post from the 23rd evening (in Germany) asking in the past tense: how did you celebrate the Advent – or so I thought. What I failed to notice was the "0." implying prior to "1." which means "the first (Sunday)" – which I only learned today when I came across a post with "1. Advent" 2/2

Long story: Last Sunday I was searching Bluesky for "Advent" and "#Advent" to learn how various traditions/expressions experience Advent, and I came across quite a few German language posts (we use the same word) which appeared (to me) to be already observing Advent. … 1/2

I think you are referring to the Renewal of Baptismal Vows. In the 2019 BCP the vows are found in pages 194-196. The Baptismal Rite per se is found in page 161 ff.

Grave Naiskos of an Enthroned Woman with an Attendant, circa 100 BC. Alternate Title: Gravestone of a Woman with Her Attendant. On this funerary marble relief, a woman reaches out to lift the lid of a thin box held by an attendant. She sits on an elaborate, high-backed chair with a turned leg decorated with lions' paws and an arm support in the form of an eagle. She also wears snake bracelets, presumably gold, on her upper and lower arms. The thin open box held by the attendant raises several questions. The two holes apparent on its base are evidence of an ancient repair, perhaps in the form of two metal pins intended to hold a now lost marble component in place. The book I learned about it is Bede’s Ecclesiastical History which I began reading last week, and of all things I’ve read so far, I suppose it was the scarlet dye which impressed me most. :-)

I often don’t recall (or think of) my dreams. Last night I had an odd one - they normally are - as I dreamt of an ancient scarlet dye which “remains unfaded by sunshine or rain; indeed, the older the cloth, the more beautiful its colour.”

I “saw” it new, and I “saw” it old…
