He was originally bonded to a rival Venquay female, but his personal charm made Kalevala steal him away. Kalevala, matriarch of the family unit. She works as a private bodyguard for a high ranking official at Dawns harbor Station. Living happily and comfortably with her 3 bonded mates. Shaelyn and Kalevala lounge on a large circular couch, with the 3 Venquay males serving them drinks. Kalevala is overjoyed that a female moves into the living quarters next door, and quickly befriends Shaelyn. Kalevala looks forward to their “girls night” every week! Asher - Male Human - Squad member
Asher male Human - Squad member Optimistic, cheerful and boisterous, Asher talks big but can never back it up with action. Laughing it off when things go awry. He is eager to start this new chapter in his life in Dawn's harbor. Fresh out of the academy in the same group as Shae, Asher is excited to be in this new Squad as he developed a bit of a crush on Shae as they trained together. Overeager, protective and gullible, Asher has many things to learn still. But he adds a good empathetic perspective that his other squad members sometimes overlook.

Deelah Vox female Noi-Lorai - Squad leader Cutthroat and blunt, Deelah has eyes on leadership and the power with it. She sees her squad members as no threats to her ambitions and eventually relaxes, then befriends them. Despite being a bit of a stick in the mud. She stays busy most days trying to keep Shae and Asher in line with their duties, while this annoys the newbie dawnguards they will begrudgingly follow direction. Her rash actions and lack of forethought cause her to self sabotage constantly with leadership. Pale smooth sickly yellow/orange skin. Lean skinny bodies, 4 finger 4 toes. One of the first species to explore the stars, their society focusing on mutual cooperation over greed. Their utopian civilization prospering for generations and looking for more signs of life in the vast expanse. As they explore the stars they slowly succumb to greed and ego. They discover and clash with the Varia-Veil over petty bragging rights, causing a bitter war until the newly discovered Umai-sol negotiate peace. With an uneasy truce, and more joining their multi-species alliance they form the Collective. Still harsh rivals, the Noi-Lorai and Varia-Veil avoid each other as much as possible. The Noi-Lorai homeworld is a lush mineral rich land with many types of fruits and vegetables growing in abundance and harmony. The Noi'Lorai building in balance with nature and utilizing renewable resources kept the planet pollution free. It is a popular site for various Collective species to visit. While not strong, fast or agile; the Noi'Lorai have a keen mind with a logical/mathematical intelligence. They act as part of the leadership council for the Collective, accepting or denying potential candidates. While they do have strong empathy, their selfish need for control, power and resources have taken over their society, becoming ever reliant on the Sudaa's resources. The Noi-Lorai see themselves as the natural leaders and veterans of the Collective since its founding. Their decisions should be "final and respected." Their strong dislike and unprofessional treatment of the Varia-Veil and Abyssians causes them to constantly lose respect with other collective members.

Cassiopeia - Female Kiar-Nazar - Roommate
KIAR-NAZAR Light/dark purple skin, Teal/blue/purple hair Humanoid, wide bodies with larger heads. Kiar-Nazar had the technology to explore space early on but observing the conflicts in the initial violence of the Collective union, they retreated back to their homeworld and focused inward. Quietly joining the Collective once reliable, calm harmony was observed. The Kiar-Nazar desperately tried attempting to uplift the Oraxi as soldiers and laborers but it backfired for them as they continue to struggle fighting off the increasingly aggressive Sudaa. Their homeworld is a barren land stripped of all useful resources. Large city-like facilities tower above all else, artificially creating the food and resources they need. They are smart and risk averse, preferring the safety of a lab or office over field work. A heavily tech reliant species, Kiar-Nazar excel at genetic modification, advanced nanobots and implants. They have evolved to be so reliant on their tech, newborn Kiar-Nazar will not survive without implants and modification. Quiet and introverted, they tend to keep to their small groups of friends and family and focus on their jobs. Some tend to adopt Collective orphans and implant them with their own tech to make them more "efficient" but making the orphan outcasts of their own kind. Kiar-Nazar are in high demand by the other Collective species for their various technical skills and pacifist nature. Cassiopeia Roomate - female Kiar-Nazar - employed as a technical data analyst for Dawn’s harbor. Kiar-Nazar when they get to maturity are sent off their home world to allied planets or space stations to be employed in the various technical positions. Only allowed back once they pay a substantial debt fee. Because they are substantially modified with various tech and nano-bots, they are only able to procreate under the umbrella of their home world. Cassiopeia is newly on her pilgrimage away from the comfortable quiet life from her homeworld. She looks to save money as fast as possible and move back home - away from the chaos of this large loud station. Initially reluctant to move in a shared living space, Cassiopeia moves in with Shaelyn out of financial convenience. Introverted and quiet Cassi attempts to keep to herself but Shaelyn slowly breaks down her wall and Cassiopeia starts to open up. Eventually considering Shaelyn her closest friend.

General location info and Employment
Location info and Employment The space station Dawn's Harbor is located between the Selakyr homeworld and Earth as a prime trade route. Resembling more of a small artificial planet, its evolved to be more of an entertainment hub. With Human and Selakyr cooperation in entertainment and arts - Dawns Harbor is now more known as a tourist destination. With increased population flow the station looks to increase security for the safety of the tourists and civilians. The station employs 2 branches of security. For upholding rules or violent crimes a robotic militant police force are quick to act. Rarely seen until trouble is reported. Most of the population are fearful of them as major collateral damage is common. But the more numerous force are the Civilian Dawnguards, who's main focus is helping the general population. Choosing to de-escalate situations avoid acts that involve violence, weapons, crimes or similarly dangerous situations. They travel in a group of 3, called a squad. With a central leader who reports to the dispatch operator. The general population use a slang term for these Dawnguards, calling them “Donnys”. They are provided uniforms and have basic stun pistols for personal protection only. Passing a basic academy school curriculum nets a reliable and well paying job for their service. Shaelyn gets employed by the Dawnguards as an easy paycheck but enjoys meeting all the various Alien species the station.

Rhaelana - Shaelyns mother
Rhaelana - Female Selakyr - Shaelyn's Mother Having a talent for singing at a young age, Rhaelana was quick to preform at the various venues and eventually getting her big break as the front runner of a trio of female singers. Gaining huge popularity when humanity, the newest species to join the collective found out about them. Constant touring, meet and greets and touring around Earth, Rhaelana was at the top of galaxy! She then ended up getting a hyperfixation on male humans and their attention. She then started to spiral into self-destructive behavior, causing rifts with her band members and management. Until one day she showed signs of being pregnant. Shocked and confused, she sought specialists and determined she and a small handful of other female Selakyr have managed to have a hybrid Human/Selakyr baby. With the pressure of the media and management she panics and flees back to the Selakyr homeworld and disappears from the spotlight, sacrificing her fame and fortune to focus on raising her child the best she can. Rhaelana and Shaelyn have a close tight-knit mother daughter relationship, becoming stronger as Shaelyn gets older.

"Between Worlds" Concept thread!

It will be a Sci-fi Slice of life/Drama comic following Shaelyn, a rare hybrid from a Human father and a Selakyr mother.

Selakyr species / Hybrid lore + Shaelyn character info:
SELAKYR Pink hues of skin - teal/blue/purple hair Shorter than humans, various body types. One of the newest species, advancing in only a few millennia. They do not sleep but have short lifespans. Eager to make the most of their time, they have made quick progress. Once they learned space travel they were quick to spread out and explore. The Collective quickly included the Selakyr more as a means to slow down and make use of the unlimited energy of the novice species. The Selakyr homeworld orbits around 2 twin suns with 3 other planets. The other planets - burnt husks are roasted from the suns energy. The barren planets orbit in such a way to tidally lock the smaller planet, turning it into a unique healthy oasis with no shortage of sustenance. Selakyr have a unique quirk that is one of their greatest strengths and weakness - each individual will latch on and hyper-fixate on a specific subject to the point of extreme obsession. It varies for each individual ranging from skills involving fuel efficiency in their space craft, sculpting their body for peak physical strength, or the simple collection of various gastropod shells. Most Selakyr gather in social communities with music and art as the focus to stave off loneliness when the rest are sleeping. Many Selakyr filter into entertainment from these collaborative events. Other species see the Selakyr as experts in their respective fields and also the butt of many jokes. Their short 30-40 year lifespans make the other species leery to be more than acquaintances. Selakyr and hybrid Lore: Very rarely a Human male and Selakyr female will produce a child. Because of the short lifespans of the Selakyr, most human/Selakyr interactions are brief flings, so most hybrid children are rare and complete surprises. They have a mix of each species characteristics but notably have the longer lifespans of a human and a need to sleep. For Selakyr, they age rapidly then stay at an adult until their lifespan comes to an end, getting increasingly sleepy. Once they fall asleep their bodies shut down and they quietly pass way. The Selakyr having a "open for entertainment" community - fun and friendly but only on the surface. They tend to keep outside species away from the more communal civilian areas. They stick together strongly as no other cultures wants to have close relationships with such a short lived species. Hybrids are majorly raised in Selakyr communities with the mother, and face multiple cultural challenges. Mothers have a tough time with a child that needs sleep. Something completely alien to them. Takes many months for them to not think their child will pass away each time they lay them down. Then the added burden of raising a child that to them never ages. Nervousness and Guilt that they may pass away before their child is even ready to support themselves. Since they age like humans, hybrids also have a hard time maintaining close friendships as their childhood friends will be fully grown and on their own within 7-10 (human) years. As they grow they also have a tough time balancing a sleep schedule in a society that runs in high gear 24/7. With lots of lights, noise and a populace that does not understand, a good nights sleep is near impossible. As they get older, they never really feel like they belong and soon all their close family and friends will be gone and they are nothing but a stranger left behind. Shaelyn Pale pink/purple skin with dark lavender eyes. Dark purple hair with a white streak on the forehead, a side effect of being a hybrid. She is taller then the average Selakyr. With gages in her ears, a septum piercing, eyebrow, navel and nipple piercings. Shaelyn was raised solo by her mother, who dropped everything to care for her. Her mother has a kind and loving appearance but when things got hard, resentment and bitterness sometimes trickled out. Upfront and honest about her heritage from a young age, Shae was never told who her father was, besides that he was a human. Her mom telling her when she was older that there were many humans and didn't know where to start. Like most hybrids, her childhood friends grew up started their own familys and moved on. Leaving her to try and make new friends matching her current age only for them to grow apart just as fast. Around her mid-teens Shae grew depressed, staying inside and just keeping to herself. Her mother desperately pushed her to get out more. Shaelyn attempted to hide her hybrid heritage and dyed her white streak, used makeup to look more pink and tries to act like a "normal" Selakyr. She eventually joined social groups and took part time jobs. Quitting or disappearing when people found out about her heritage. As she gets to her early 20s she starts to branch out from the familiar and puts herself out there and ends up with a renewed sense of confidence in herself. But now her mother is showing signs that her life cycle is coming to an end. Shaelyn enjoys human entertainment and culture. She has aspirations to visit Earth and experience things first hand. She hopes to one day find her father and connect more with her other half.
