Okay, not a bird this time... but oh my goodness that cute nose. I had the pleasure of seeing her raise her 5 babies to adulthood. Never named, just called her Mama.

Now that's it's cold and the leaves have fallen, I find myself missing our only species of humming bird, the ruby-throated. In their place, the migratory waterfowl have started arriving.

Goodbye, warm weather!

I like this photo because it shows the subtle, yet beautiful pattern of the feathers across a male cardinal's back. The odd lighting and dash of bright red makes my focus always come back to that thoughtful, glimmering eye. 🪶 #cardinal #birdwatching

The "I'm coming for your lunch money" vibe that this grackle was giving off was too funny. Still one of my favorite pictures and birds. 🪶 #birds #blackbirds #grackle

Great Blue Heron showing great focus towards nabbing the next meal. I never realized just how sharp the tips of their beaks were until I got a closer look. 🪶 #birdwatching

Any female eastern towhees out there? Cause I know a fella who would love to sing you a song. 🪶 🎵

My guy was really belting it out. I heard him from half a mile away, lol.

Absolutely adore these fiesty little gentlemen. American goldfinch males (mostly) in their breeding plumage on an otherwise dreary day. 🪶

Who doesn't enjoy the bright flashes of color as Northern Carrdinals forage and flit about in the wintery woods? Bird watching in the snow is one of my favorite ways to enjoy our feathered friends. 🪶 #birds

The tundra swans have returned. The sounds and calls a flock of them make when they gather together is surreal. 🪶 #winterbirds

It has been so cold that this hermit thrush was only willing to perch on one leg. 🪶 #chilly #notapenguin
