Former travel writer, occasional novelist, accidental filmmaker, intentional reprobate. Undocumented immigrants make America great, black lives matter more than yours... and fuck fascist pond-scum MAGA shitheels everywhere.
And when the dust settles and the final analysis of America's descent into madness is written, guaranteed that no serious person will chalk it up to "Both sides were equally violent and equally to blame."

Unfortunately, recent history shows that societies lost in a fascist fever dream don't let go willingly—they need to be shaken awake, usually by war and/or an obliterated economy. So sorry, but even if no lefty ever shoots a CEO again, our nightmare doesn't end without (much) more violence.
June 23, 2025 at 8:46 AM
I actually agree that political violence in America is useless because it would do nothing to dismantle the right-wing propaganda machine that flourishes in a society eager to swallow such horseshit...
June 23, 2025 at 8:42 AM
I'm not even advocating that as a prescription for this moment—despite the fact Trump is just as potentially dangerous as Hitler (yes, you heard that right). And S. Miller is more terrifying because he's actually more ideologically pure in his race-hatred than many Nazis who were bureacrats first.
June 23, 2025 at 8:28 AM
Point being, Hitler and his fuckin' goons were responsible for that... and a bullet to the brain before he ever took power would have been a solid antidote—far better than platitudes about violence begetting more violence.
June 23, 2025 at 8:25 AM
Appealing to nationalism and ginning up an Other that Germans could blame for a decimated economy and runaway inflation ended the Weimar Republic. It was the starting gun signalling their race down to hell. Again, sounds pretty familiar... as we're seeing in real time.
June 23, 2025 at 8:24 AM
And we both know political violence did nothing to land Hitler in the chancellor's seat. He smartened up and decided to use the levers of democracy to achieve his final end of dismantling it entirely. A "party of outsiders," for everyone who felt abandoned by the political elite. Sound familiar?
June 23, 2025 at 8:19 AM
Mangione has no such support. He's endorsed by no political party, no cable news channels, and, most crucially, no former president stoked his violent behavior with violent, irresponsible, and fascistic rhetoric. He only has the support of SOME people online. That's it.
June 23, 2025 at 8:10 AM
Except unfortunately the sides do matter. One has a decades-long history of racism, demagoguery, and peddling paranoid conspiracy theories to the point you can draw a direct line from the WH, to its media propaganda arm, to two dead pols in Minnesota (and plenty of other dead bodies along the way)..
June 23, 2025 at 8:03 AM
When all is said and done, I'm convinced America's descent into right-wing authoritarian hell will have been aided and abetted by the lazy shoulder-shrug of the comfortable class saying, "Welp, both sides are equally bad." Straw men, both-sides-ism—these are not helpful at this moment in time.
June 23, 2025 at 7:50 AM
And POTUS sent in the fuckin' military to help terrorize nannies, line cooks, and 9-year-olds. I've lived in Latin American countries where guerrillas fought against just such an authoritarian nightmare, using political violence, and were later elected presidents. It's not always so black and white
June 23, 2025 at 12:27 AM
Because some trolls online (who, near as I can tell, aren't elected to jack shit) celebrated Magione. I guess to you that makes every hostile act in America equal on both sides. Sure. Pat yourself on the back. Meanwhile, in my home city dishwashers and laborers are being abducted by men in masks...
June 23, 2025 at 12:23 AM
Your OP wholly ignored the state-sponsored violence of the current admin as well as the far right political propaganda apparatus that has been stoking hostility and violence for decades (Since the Southern Strategy and Buchanan's 'foreign invaders' doctrine). And why?...
June 23, 2025 at 12:18 AM
Your OP swerved sharply from two murdered pols to rank whataboutism with the idea being that violence begets more violence (sloganeering by any other name). You're saying, in absolutist terms, there's never cause for political violence under any circumstances. I'm saying, that isn't always true...
June 23, 2025 at 12:13 AM
I mean, according to you, your response to that old thought experiment "Would you go back in time to kill Hitler?" would be something like, "We can't be normalizing political violence! It's a slippery slope!!!" So congrats...the world commends you for your untarnished virtue.
June 22, 2025 at 8:32 PM
Never suggested I need to be the final say on who lives or dies. But my eyes are open enough to see the difference betweeen authoritarian shitbags looking to eradicate entire peoples... and a couple of reps from Minnesota.
June 22, 2025 at 8:29 PM
Pretty absolutist argument. I, for one, think Mussolini ended up exactly where he should have. And while it might be uncouth to say, I would have no problem with Stephen Miller meeting the same fate. Cry for lost humanity all you want, somtimes facist pigs deserve to get strung up by ther nutsacks.
June 22, 2025 at 1:37 AM
Is this subject ever gonna be about the people actually killed in Minnesota? Or just daily whataboutism circling back incessantly to Mangione? When you can find me one Dem political leader celebrating what Mangione did while also crying about what happened in Minnesota, fine. Until then, WTF, man?
June 17, 2025 at 12:23 AM
Yes, and I accept that people voted in Trump and that the result of that is that shit like this will happen, and continue. That's the topic of conversation today: two dead Democratic politicians in Minnesota. Do try to focus on that and quit your bullshit deflecting.
June 14, 2025 at 9:02 PM
Thank you for that bit of low-rent Confucius fortune-cookie wisdom. It does wonders to ignoring the reality that Dem lawmakers were shot and killed today in Minnesota.
June 14, 2025 at 8:58 PM
Did a "portion of the far left?" kill two Dem lawmakers today? No, they did not. So let's try to keep our eye on the fucking ball.
June 14, 2025 at 8:56 PM
I did not. Nor that lunatic who tried and fuckfailed to kill Trump (though his actual plan was to shoot him or Biden, whichever was convenient). And unlike you, I don't equivocate when two Dem pols are shot, playing the tired "both sides" card to avoid looking reality in the face.
June 14, 2025 at 8:52 PM
The Dem purists who didn't vote for Trump are a problem. As are the fat-assed white suburbanites who helped swing the election to Trump this time. But in the face of this kind of murder, the immediate response shouldn't be "Welp, both sides are equally bad." That's both lazy and untrue.
June 14, 2025 at 8:49 PM
I don't recall Biden or the cable news propaganda machine encouraging anyone on the left to go shoot an insurance CEO... but, please, by all means, lady, keep pretending "Dems are just as bad as Magas." It's just the kind of bullshit lazy take for which Americans are renowned the world over.
June 14, 2025 at 8:41 PM
Fair point. Except we have a president who gorges himself on raw ideology and vomits it back into the mouths of his trash followers to then go murder dem pols, or shoot up Wal-Marts, or live-stream murdering black people in a grocery store, and on and on and on. To me, that's the difference
