The global south sees Israel as a colonial project. As Mandela said: “South Africans will not be free, until Palestinians are free.” During apartheid there were Jewish people supporting apartheid & there were many Jews that opposed it. Judaism is not politically monolithic

A lot of survivors of the Shoah have spoken publicly against Israel for committing genocide & war crimes. All humans are capable of atrocity, including peoples that have suffered it. As author, Auschwitz survivor & Italian resistance fighter primo levi observed “ the best of us did not survive.”

I do find religious fundamentalists both amusing & terrifying. Gaza is a classic colonial genocide. Hannah Arendt warned in 1944 at the world Zionist convention in Atlantic city that an Israel established without regard for its Palestinian inhabitants would come to this. Smart woman.
