Unfortunately why I choose to watch older movies at home more often than not. Once wanted to fight an entire audience who laughed at the dubbing of Deep Red for the full length of the film.

Few folks said Martyrs, which is up there for sure. Anything New French Extremity, really. The other path I'd suggest is any late 70s/early 80s entry that blurs the lines with exploitation - Maniac, Don't Go In The House, etc. Grim stuff that makes you want to take a shower after watching.
