OVER TIME A poem by Walter Rice Over time those cherished crystalline details blur, and melt and drip like Salvador Dali watches. With magic ink forgetfulness rewrites the story of our lives. Specks of dust build one upon another, shaped by heat and cold and wind, and by our own breaths. Then eventually someone notices a handsome hill with a view, and soon houses grow on it like clusters of fine grapes. That detail we considered so precious and final was really just the first draft, a grain of sand now darkly inaccessible. And why would you want to go back anyhow?
