Painting eyes can be difficult, although these days I like to think I get it right most of the time. I didn't quite get it right on this mini though, but he kinda reminds me of the Joey from Friends meme so I haven't fixed it yet 😂

Depends what mood I'm in and what I'm doing it for. If it's for a magazine article or my website it'll be the proper camera. But for social media just the phone camera. The quality of both is pretty good TBF, but I find the proper camera a little easier to adjust for bigger photos.

One of my goals this winter is to work on my photography skills. I really enjoy taking photos of minis, but I struggle with taking larger group shots. Once I've (finally) moved house I hope to have a dedicated space (albeit not a permanent setup) I can use so I'll be able to practice more easily.

I'm painting up a new batch of rebels, and decided that I'd convert Simeon to be holding a looted Roman shield. This was very simple, I just snipped off the dagger so his fist could be glued into the shield.

I did, however, feel a tad guilty about snipping off some of Alan's lovely sculpting 😬

Thank you, having a nice set up to do photos with really makes a difference. Plus it's more fun than using a plain light box!

This morning I've been having fun doing a little photoshoot with my Jewish Rebels using the Deserts and Warmer Climes backdrop book from @handiworkgames.bsky.social on the scenic plinth I finished yesterday.

For commercial peeps, licenses can be bought here: handiwork.games/licensing-fo....

Tonight I've started making myself a scenic plinth to take photos of minis with. This was done using the following guide handiwork.games/product/maki... which is well worth a look (if you haven't already you definitely should invest in some of Jon's backdrop books while you're there!)

It's funny how some minis just inspire you. Over the past few weeks (and more) I haven't been in the mood for painting due to real life getting in the way. But something about these minis had me really invested and I literally spent all day yesterday painting them. Now I'm feeling much better!

While the wind rages outside I am busy putting the finishing touches to my next design brief for Alan. It's going to be a "mini" wave (pun intended) as I'm only planning to release 3 models, each of which will be a named historical character. So it's a small release but hopefully an interesting one.

Getting parcels from @fenrisgames.com & @badsquiddogames.bsky.social at the same time is a fantastic way to end the week!

As well as fab minis I got @handiworkgames.bsky.social Deserts & Warmer Climes backdrop book which looks excellent. Even my cat Avery has had fun with the colourful packaging.

Well, guess I don't need my laptop bag any more. The cats have adopted it as their bed.

Just seen the lovely review of my minis in the latest @wssmagazine.bsky.social Dead chuffed with this. Thank you.

After a bit of a hiatus I got back to Mordheim tonight. My new witch Hunter warband, the "Little Helsings" did some great pest control work versus a pack of skaven. They're led by a vampire hunter from @badsquiddogames.bsky.social Sadly she and two wardogs (geese) were killed by the dastardly rats.

I've had a fairly rubbish couple of weeks. The planned house move is turning into a proper palava, but never mind. To cheer myself up I have returned to my long dormant Adeptus Titanicus project and painted myself a Warhound, the start of a new Titan Legion.

This one seems nicely set up. They have three "rooms" with two of them being retail space. It was very crowded today naturally so it felt cramped, but I don't think it would on a normal day. The ranges they carry are quite extensive. I'd like to see more historicals but I'm not complaining!

Despite the rain I made it down to the Grand Opening of the new Element Games store in Newcastle. Great selection of hobby stuff. Obviously I had to do my part so I bought some more paints (and models). And I got a goody bag with more paints and stuff in which was fun!

Had a lovely day off today doing not very much at all. Spent the afternoon painting some reinforcements for my Mahdist army which was very relaxing. Just what I needed.

However, I just wanted to say that I am still around, and Northwing Miniatures is doing well. A big thank you to those who have recently put in orders! Once the house move is done at last I will be resuming planning the next wave of minis, and posting painting projects on here.

I haven't been posting here for a while due to life getting in the way. Between trying to organise a house move and work being a bit frustrating I haven't been feeling very motivated.
