Like a ghost from a forgotten time, a retired telegraph pole stands guard in the forest. This is alongside the former railroad line in Centerburg, OH, which is now part of the Heart of Ohio rail-to-trail.

My daughter found what I believe is a Killdeer chick. It let her pick it up and stroke its feathers gently. After a few minutes, she placed it back in the grass and it started calling for its mother.
