It's very upsetting how glib psychoanalytic thought can be about sexual violence (and trauma more broadly.) Seem to value 'what Lacan once said' more than survivor's accounts.

The idea that women didn't work outside the home until second wave feminism is also just insane. And drives me crazy how common it is.

I think it's also clear in CLR James text (which from what I can tell has aged remarkably well) - He makes the point that it's almost striking how long it takes to become a story of vengeance.
