Another great part of the PMs speech!

Calling racists, racist!

Calling out Farage and Reform for their plans to deport our friends and neighbours!

(And the addition of music makes it even better!)
warrenoates1.bsky.social
Zones? We are talking about the industrial strategy launched this year with 8 sector plans.

Not sure what zones you are talking about and suggesting is a Tory idea.

But it's not what we are talking about here.
warrenoates1.bsky.social
Or, you check out what your local council is actually doing with their pothole money, because it has been provided and they are required to do this work and tell you, if they want more of it.

Hold your council to account if they aren't doing it.

Another tax cut promised by the Tories - abolishing stamp duty on home purchases.

That is another £9bn tax cut, likely on top of their £48bn cuts already announced and spent.

Skewed to the wealthiest / those purchasing the biggest houses.

People like me if I moved home - but I reject this plan.
warrenoates1.bsky.social
Oh my fucking goodness.

Badenoch is going back to the mid 19th century in her speech to talk about Tory successes!

She really has.
warrenoates1.bsky.social
Ok, I've had enough of Kemi Badenoch's speech at the Tory party conference already after just the first couple of lines.

Can we switch off now @mrjamesob.bsky.social

The latest data is out from HMRC on tax receipts.

The data shows that in April to August this year gross tax receipts were £342.5bn.

This is up £24.5bn on the year before.

Assuming consistent patterns, this extrapolates to £61.4bn more in gross tax receipts this financial year.

Absolutely agree!

Our media lets us down badly :

Labours accomplishments - rarely mentioned

Nigel Farage’s house - dropped/ignored

Nathan Gill’s admission of working for Russia - zilch

Russia/Iran funding Reform/Farage - silence

Instead they spread lies on the Budget/MPs/anything to discredit Labour

Why????
warrenoates1.bsky.social
The media stories are based off the first couple of sentences of the monthly update...so no need for detailed thinking or reading loads. Just take what HRMC explicitly said in a few words and run with that, ignoring anything more detailed?
warrenoates1.bsky.social
Yes.

No doubt someone will now come in with specific examples that come in the other way round to try and suggest otherwise...but that would just be it - exceptions to the general rule.
warrenoates1.bsky.social
I think if you follow my link in this post, then click through to the monthly update, it starts with an explanation of how VAT has been revised upwards for the first few months in this financial year, due to an error in the calculation.

Yes, there was a couple of billion more paid in VAT in the first few months of this financial year than initially calculated (due to an error in calculations).

Do it!

They are getting on repairing our country while the two main alternatives, if the polls are to be believed, will undo all that hard work and make things even worse!
warrenoates1.bsky.social
...that will most likely be skewed heavily towards the oldest people - the same group unlikely to still be working and therefore have no mandatory use for the digital ID.

It will also be a percentage that continues to drop over time.

We know there definitely WILL be a solution for people without, or who cannot use a smartphone, but don't yet know the format that will take.

A physical card would be an obvious potential solution, but it could be something else.

And to the person talking about the 7% without a smart phone...
warrenoates1.bsky.social
It also appears to me that this would be a couple of tens of billions more (maybe even more) that the OBR estimated (taking their net figures and calculating a gross figure).

I am not a tax expert, so would massively appreciate anyone else's interpretation of this.

What are your thoughts?

When do they ever? Unless they can find something negative to say about it...in which case they will focus only on the negative point.
warrenoates1.bsky.social
Yes, being on the south coast, we are well aware too. It was good to see there are several sets of planned works for our area over the next few years.
warrenoates1.bsky.social
Perhaps. But it's not a choice of one or the other.

Councils have been given RECORD funding from the government to repair potholes.

They also are now REQUIRED to tell you what progress they are making in carrying out repairs and soon will need to take onboard which roads people want fixed.

Flood defences.

Labour inherited flood defences in the worst condition on record, but through increased funding, 151 flood defence schemes have been delivered in their first year in power.

And across the next decade they have committed £10.5bn for the largest flood defence programme in history.

...especially as a back up energy source. The reason being, they are replaced on human timescales. Sustainably sourced biofuels mean the cycle of producing more takes the carbon back out of the air within decades.

But fossil fuels release carbon stored up over millions of years without replacement.
