On October 4, 1931, the first Dick Tracy newspaper strip by Chester Gould was published in the Detroit Mirror.
A 12 panel color Sunday comic strip in which Dick Tracy figures out that a woman in police custody is actually ex-boxer and stick-up ace, “Pinkie the Stabber,” in disguise.

My first 1945 flick for October is STATE FAIR starring Dana Andrews, Jeanne Crain, Dick Haymes, and Vivian Blaine. It opened this week in 1945 at the Byrd and State in Richmond.
"State Fair" newspaper advertisement surrounded by random 1940s items (a book, sheet music, Blondie greeting card, stamp book for war bonds, and a cup of coffee)

Thank you! It took 43 attempts and about as many empty promises to get one good photo. 📸
