In Matsumoto, I ate at Yakitori Toritomi on Nawatedori, a shopping street famous for its frog shrine and many frog statues. Owner Lei and her friend Shining Head told
me I was punk for travelling solo and kawaii for my travelling clothes.
Lei who runs the excellent Yakitori Toritomi on Matsumoto's Nawatedori street cooking liver and heart yakitori for me. She is lovely. Nawatedori (frog shrine street) in Matsumoto at night with single story old-school Isakaya and shops lit by lanterns which spill a golden light onto the street The anime frog statue at the start of Nawatedori in Matsumoto near the Black Matsumoto Castle. Matsumoto Castle by night reflected in the moat. It is a ridiculously scenic and imposing black and white 5-tiered fortified castle on a moat with big heavy gates on 2 sides. Would have been hell to attack, but easy to defend.

Day 2 in Japan and I have seen wonders already.
2611m Mt Okudainichi in the Chubusangaku National Park in the Northern Japanese alps. This imposing grey granite peak is dusted in snow under a perfect Delft blue sky. A puff of cloud, like smoke rolls in at the head of the legendary Sea Of Cloud. In front is a wide field of pristine white snow and between it and the mountain is a stand of dark green alpine trees including pines, beeches and cedars. The view from the Kurobe Cable Car over the lake formed by the Kurobe Dam in a deep, sunlit valley surrounded by 3 astonishing granite peaks with light snow on the crags. The water is a deep jade and pine trees and yellow flowers climb up the sides of the valley. Double rainbow over the outlet spray of the Kurobe Dam across some frankly astonishing lower peaks speckled with beech and other alpine trees turning autumnal orange Japanese architect Terunobu Fujimori designed Takasugi-an (the "Too Tall Teahouse") perched 6m high on chestnut trunks with no discernible way of getting up to the first platform which leads to a cheerful yellow plaster room with a jaunty Studio Ghibliesque black metal roof and chimney. It is ringed by Buddhist memorial places and near the Suwa Grand Shrine, apparently the oldest Shinto shrine complex in Suwa, near Chino, Japan.

Interestingly, the name on the credits is Lawrence Vavra. I found the wikipedia for media entrepreneur, private equity investor and Bay Area bar/restaurant owner of the same name. The heavily-edited page omits older references to Air, Blink 182, Infected Mushroom and Steve Aoki. Same guy?
Lawrence Vavra is composer and producer of a likely AI slop album titled Don't Break Easy and credited to The Horrors. It isn't I found a wikipedia entry for a 'media entrepreneur and private equity investor' and 'Bay Area bar and restaurant owner' of the same name whose heavily-edited page omits older references to associations with Air, Blink 182, Infected Mushroom and Steve Aoki. I found this EP of bland, likely AI-generated pop slop on #Tidal purporting to be by UK band @thehorrors.co.uk and indexed under their name as a new release. It isn't them. It's released by a company called Fifty Five Music whose sales pitch is 'making music creation accessible'. Or fraudulent.
