Tbf I am British and I didn’t know either but google suggests it derived from a ‘jupe’ which was an Arabic garment once upon a time and it somehow became that over the years🤣🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve lived on my own for like 4 years so I’m fairly used to it but my god sometimes it would just be nice if someone else could do dishes for me or decide what to eat
