4 (metal) albums that shaped my tastes and changed me forever
Black Sabbath - Paranoid One of the first Heavy Metal albums I ever adored alongside; Judas Priest - British Steel Motorhead - Ace of Spades Iron Maiden - Number of The Beast These albums would serve as the entry drugs for my eventual descent into Heavy Metal madness! Enter Shikari - Take To The Skies An Electronicore/Scenecore classic. Around the time I entered high school I was getting into a lot of the music that the alternative/emo kids were also into; Asking Alexandria, Bring Me The Horizon, Suicide Silence, Pierce The Veil and Sleeping With Sirens to name a few. As I progressed through high school, I would eventually throw the majority of it away, and yet...this album would get spun eventually, whenever I needed to feel nostalgic... Darkthrone - Transilvanian Hunger An album that shook me out of my post-rock/indie phase, and sadly, accompanied me through my catapult into far-right bullshit. During that period, the most "Metal" I'd listen to were bands like Mogwai, Godspeed whenever they got metal, ISIS, Alcest and Deafheaven. Fantano Metal, basically... Alongside Mayhem, Burzum, Emperor, Immortal and Gorgoroth, Darkthrone soundtracked my new love-affair with heavy metal again. just ignore the racism please ignore the 2nd track Celtic Frost - Monotheist And well, to end this with the band that I currently love, aside from Darkthrone, Paysage D'hiver, Ulver among others... I recently saw Tom G Warrior perform Celtic Frost songs this year at Incineration Fest. This cemented my adoration for not only this band, but for Tom as a musician. One of the greatest first wave black metal bands, arguably the one with the most influence.
