Just got this as a gift, and I couldn't put it down. It puts into words how the colonizer justifies their colonization, both during and after the fact. And it's a narrative of migration, which I love.

Ok NY Post, if you're going to shame my culture, you should first explain your cultural practices, in which one is supposed to call someone a generation older than you a "cousin" of some number and possibly "once removed". Removing them - even once - is the scandal IMHO

And we recommit to our mission of training students to be critical thinkers across disciplines, who can consider sources of information and locate them within their context, who can evaluate toolkits for the tasks they are taking on and decide which tool fit which task, and who can see through the glib marketing that power cloaks itself in.

Even though headline unemployment for all workers hasn’t shot up nearly as much, rising Black unemployment could be a harbinger of things to come, said Angela Hanks at The Century Foundation — in part because Black workers tend to be last-hired and first-fired. “So, when we see things like black male unemployment reaching 7%, black unemployment overall getting to 7.5%, the concern is that overall increases in unemployment are not far behind,” Hanks said.

ABET leaders Sarah A. Rajala and Michael K. J. Milligan announced today their secret decision to kowtow to fascism
In recognition of evolving challenges in higher education and accreditation including recent directives and legislation at the federal and state level - the ABET Board of Directors met in executive session last week and voted to remove all references to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA) from our accreditation criteria and public media. The Board made this difficult decision after consultation with the ANSAC, CAC, EAC and ETAC commission chairs and careful consideration of a number of factors, including the impact to institutions and potential vulnerability and long-term risks to ABET.
