Home from my Helsinki holiday to some great bookpost today - my contributor's copy of Night Terrors from Acid Bath Publishing. I'm made up to be in the company of so many fine writers.

You can order your copy here: acidbathpublishing.com

That's the best way, Rónán, and you proved it can work wonderfully

And my last discard will be my phone. And my last breath will be, 'Those bastards are still not responding to my Bluesky posts.'

I have a dream of downsizing, or paring down my life, but there's so much stuff to get rid of. If I start now, though, I can discard it all, bit by bit, until the very last thing goes just before I die, and then there's nothing left to worry about in the afterwards.

Personally I'd wear it with different shoes

Picket Fire is a small literary press, but I have no idea how to use Blue Sky or how to find people on here. So if #writers #authors #readers and anyone related to the #writingcommunity or #books community could help by sharing this post, that would be excellent.

Walls are boring. Down with walls!

I was thinking more of the “covid pods” that appeared in pub beer gardens a few years ago.

A suitably quiet way of closing the stable door

Despite all my interesting comments on baroque art, men’s fashion, football, and the weather, I never get much traction on BlueSky apart from the kind five people who like or reply to my posts. But I show one picture of Gusto with his friends and he’s internationally famous in days. What’s going on?

I really don't mind that. Many of Bellini's paintings would have originally been set in elaborate architectural furnishings or altarpieces. I'd say this is a sympathetic play on that history, and it encourages us to look closely. We're too used to sparse and plain modern gallery walls.

I think the trend for ‘chore coats’ is really funny. Do all men want to look like they’re selling fruit and veg on Abergavenny market?

Watching the ball being kicked to and fro along the back line for about 80 of the 90 minutes is very, very tedious.

I’ve never been in a gym in my life, and this sounds like the best reason not to start. Alternatively I could just be that bloke in his 60s.

I don’t think my wife would have liked that

I lent my copy to Mandy in 1980 and she never gave it back.

Gusto gets taken out in the woods every day with the Derwent Dog Pack. Here he is with some of his pals.

Ah, Brautigan. The light in any darkness.

Gusto said he'd think about it

It's blowing like a madman here. I'm tempted to send Gusto out on his own, and he can come back when he's ready.

'Get retro, Gusto. This is what dogs did in the 1970s.'

Cue inevitable and only vaguely connected 60s song. Mr Postman should do it.
