The remakes of Resident Evil, particularly the second game, are fantastic. I would say, though, they're great as reimaginings as opposed to remakes. I would certainly see them in another multiverse timeline (to borrow from Marvel) than the originals. And happier for it.

The 90s didn't have the pinnacle of gaming technology, but I think you appreciate more and more (or certainly, I do, looking back) what was able to be achieved to spark imagination further. Nowadays, with everything given to you, it rarely resonates as much. RDR2 a rare exception.

I agree, certainly whilst replaying RE2 since the remakes, I had a deeper appreciation of the original game - and especially what the team was able to achieve with such limited technology in comparison to today. Testament to how good an experience it is.

What amazes me too is just how small in file size the game itself actually is in comparison to more modern ones, such as it's remake, and yet it has a definable quality that makes it genuinely scary to this day. It has held up phenomenally well since 1998.
