That’s also some of the easiest rage bait that’s gonna get attention 💯 of the time, so it might not be that deep but who knows

Perhaps, although you see the same thing everywhere. It’s just a way to boil something down so an audience doesn’t have to understand it fully.

And (convenient) heated showers are a new thing. Almost none of my ancestors had that.
Just access to hygiene in general.

I like to do a thing that I call reverse escapism: I picture myself as a peasant or one of my ancestors from literally any period of history other than now, and realize how nice I have it.
Like, I’m struggling with being directionless? Oh well most of my ancestors didn’t have choices at all.

And the Facebook levels of repetitive angry “Trump bad” tweets. Like, if you’re most people, yelling on the internet has no effect whatsoever.

But every single community is unique and different, with varying levels of government fear/cooperation. The specific group that I was born into held firmly that they will aways follow the laws of the land unless they directly oppose their biblical principles.

And interaction they have with the government is tricky, because a huge part of their identity is being separate from and not listening to world powers and influence. Hell, their origin story is that of their founders who were beheaded for their refusal to bend before the church/state.

I grew up in a Mennonite community. My mom got us vaccinated but most people don’t take it very seriously. Some explanation for it is how disconnected they are from the outside world. They don’t hear any of the discourse around this besides from their crazy uncle .
