In Kim Newman's Life's Lottery, you choose your way through a "normal" life, from cradle to grave. If instead you read the book from cover to cover, there's a whole second story going on that ties into other Newman books. It explains why the book is a choosable path adventure.

I know @alicefraser.bsky.social is embarrassed about reading a CYOA from cover to cover, but sometimes that's correct. There's at least one where the best ending isn't referenced from any other chapter. In world, you're meant to think outside the box for a solution.

Title trivia: the reason all the sequels have stupid names is because they bought The Fast and The Furious as a title from Roger Corman who had produced a film in 1954 with that title. He kept the rights to The Fast and The Furious [number] and they didn't want to pay him again.

Experience: Taskmaster live. Went with some awesome friends for the Taskmaster experience. The one who'd never seen it won. I was best of the worst.

Exhibition: Nairy Baghramian: Jumbled Alphabet at the South London Gallery. Some beautiful artifacts intriguingly arranged. Wish I was young enough to scrawl on the desk.

Party: Siân and Amy. I don't mean to sound smug, but I got invited to the two best parties of the year. I did divination for Siân and sang for Amy.

Event: David Sedaris recording for Radio 4 at the Shaw Theatre. Freezing. Delightful. Love that he sat on the steps signing before the start.

Exhibition: Jason and the Adventure of 254 at the Wellcome collection. Exhibition by Jason Wilsher-Mills of art mostly relating to being trapped in a hospital for a year. Made me really want to watch the Inseminoids. wellcomecollection.org/exhibitions/...
