A coastal storm has the chance to spur the first nor'easter of the fall & winter season. GFS & Euro show the system stalling jsut south of New England, but rain and windy conditions likely late Sunday & into Monday.

New England was in desperate need of this kind of rain to curb the drought. Scattered showers and pockets of steady light rain will persist through early afternoon for some. Here's a look at the current totals.

October tropics to be active. Low wind shear for next two weeks + warm SST's = two areas of interest. October is 3rd most active month in hurricane season, averaging 1.5 hurricanes. Last year had 3 hurricanes, 1 tropical storm.

Fujiwhara Effect explained with Hurricane Humberto & Imelda the 2nd closest storms recorded, <500 miles. Both storms circling a central point, with the stronger Humberto (at the time) winning, tugging Imelda east away from landfall.

Imelda & Humberto will both turn away from the U.S. coast. Some interaction between the two, with the stronger Humberto pulling Imelda east. Good news here. The Florida coast could see up to 4" with marginal flooding possible.

Tropics roaring. The Carolinas look to be in trouble, with most tracks pointing to landfall. There's a chance that the soon-to-be Imelda makes landfall & stalls from Humberto's influence = catastrophic flooding. Hopefully not. Still lots to unfold.

This isn't good... What would become Imelda could slam into the Carolinas. Two near systems could influence each other into the weekend. But right now, not looking good.

Tropical Storm Humberto forms. Will be interesting to see how this storm potentially interacts with the other disturbance area. For now, slow growth, but then it booms to a Cat 2 or Cat 3 hurricane. Still early for firm track.

This hurricane season saw no active storms during the peak of the season, Sept. 10. No storms from 8/26-9/10, in fact. Something that hasn't happened since 1939. Why? Saharan Dust, strong wind shear, & the MJO all played part.

#Gabrielle rapidly intensified by 45 mph this morning. Now a Category 3 major hurricane. May reach Cat 4 status, good thing this storm will pass Bermuda to the east and stay out to sea.

Autumn Equinox is here! A decent, warm start to astronomical fall, but we continue to lose daylight. Take a look at the week ahead with some rain chances mid-week.

Watching Tropical Storm Gabrielle. May push through a dry pocket by the end of the weekend and emerge as a Category 1 or 2 hurricane early next week. Bermuda might be clipped, but this should stay an ocean storm.

Patriots vs. Steelers Sunday will be under perfect fall weather. Mix of sun & clouds, game temps upper 60s to about 70°. Since 2009, the Patriots have been 9-3 with similar weather conditions in place at home.

Tropical Storm Gabrielle in the Central Tropical Atlantic. Will likely avoid U.S. impacts, but Bermuda may be in trouble. Models suggest Gabrielle tops at a Cat 1 hurricane. 7th storm of the season.

Soon-to-be Tropical Storm Gabrielle is taking shape! It will likely curve north and away from the U.S. But surely quite the sight.

Parts of Northern New England may wake up to a frosty start on Saturday. Boston typically sees 1st night of <=32° on 11/5. Warming climate has bumped 1st frost later by a week since 1970.

Tropics stayed quiet through the peak of hurricane season. 1st time no named storm active during the peak (9/10) since 2016. High pressure & dry air to blame. Likely a change, though, with the potential of a back-loaded season.

'Wicked high tides' are coming! The moon, Sun, & Earth are in near alignment = very high afternoon tides for 9/10-12. Could lead to some coastal flooding. This event will be minor compared to the next mega tides in October.

5 tornadoes in total with 2 in Paxton. Just 1 shy of a textbook "tornado outbreak" but hey, this qualifies in my book for New England as one.

Two more EF-1 tornadoes confirmed in Berlin and Stow. They brings Saturday’s total to 4. Low-level shear from two very different air masses. Paxton and Holden also saw twisters.

Two EF-1 tornadoes were confirmed Saturday afternoon in Worcester County (Paxton & Holden), just outside the city. Estimated wind speeds of 86-110 mph.

Those severe storms on Saturday were intense. Confirmed tornado in Holden, MA. Another likely in Blandford. NWS will confirm. Rain totals 2-3" for some, many trees down from 60mph gusts. Last hurrah of summer. The rain was much needed.

Severe storm chance across New England today! A cold front delivers strong storms this afternoon & evening. Damaging wind gusts, small hail, & low tornado chance. Heavy rain to 1-2" possible, too. Highs in the 80s.

Peak hurricane season nears & the tropics are waking up. The 2nd half of Sept. looks to be active, just like last year, as sea surface temps reach peak heating & the atmosphere turns unstable over the ocean.

NFL is back & so are weather stats. If you're headed to Foxboro Sunday, you should see temps in the mid-70s with a possible spot shower between partly to mostly cloudy skies.

The #Patriots are 5-2 when seeing similar weather conditions in September at home since 2009.
