Groups blast lack of progress on debt issues during South Africa's G20 presidency
A total of 165 organizations on Monday criticized South Africa for failing to make progress on debt sustainability issues during its presidency of the G20 major economies and urged it to push for reforms before it hands over to the U.S. on December 1.

Reorient towards public service investments: Prioritize channeling resources into bolstering public services to enhance societal well-being and alleviate the disproportionate burden of unpaid care work on women.2. Embrace a rights-centric paradigm: Recalibrate macroeconomic policies towards principles of gender equality and social justice. This requires dismantling entrenched structural barriers that impede women’s access to economic opportunities.3. Forge stronger partnerships with civil society: Engage in substantive dialogues with grassroots organizations and women’s rights advocates to ensure that interventions are attuned to the nuanced realities and pressing concerns faced by women at the local level.4. Prioritize gender-transformative policies: Invest in policies and programs that actively promote gender equality, creating conducive environments for women’s economic advancement.
