this is so hard to remember online, which is wild because the ratio is still in favor of non assholes - but 2 out of 100 would still be orders of magnitude more assholes online than in person, which is a difference difficult for our brains not to pick up on

9) People are, all things considered, pretty good.

I see twenty thousand people a day, and maybe two of them are assholes. Even on a stressful day, even in an unfamiliar environment, even hungry and tired and on a timer.

That's a *much* better ratio than folks realize.

Can you clarify the fakeness? I assume the "correction" was fake. Did Acyn not post that at all? Did the repost ay Acyn not happen?

If it takes Elmo 1 1/2 minutes to build a snowman and Rocco takes 2 minutes to build a snowman, how fast can they build a snowman if they work together?

I won't argue with Fresh, because my comment said "nothing" and so he's technically correct (the best kind). But I still disagree with your point about gerrymandering being decisive in the presidential election, his argument makes voter suppression the factor, which is downstream of gerrymandering.

“I mean, your society’s broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No let’s blame the people with no power & no money & these immigrants who don’t even have the vote, yeah it must be their fucking fault.”

A lot of people think that every international student admitted means one fewer spot for domestic students, when the opposite is more likely true - the tuition revenue international students bring allows public universities to provide substantial discounts to domestic students, improving access.
