Wednesday
@weekendwednesday.bsky.social
I’m a fan, a friend, and a writer who’s just trying her best. I am working, slowly, on writing an original novel, but for those who like fanfiction, I write for fun on Archive of Our Own: https://archiveofourown.org/users/WeekendWednesday
If we’re taking a moment to appreciate our idiots, here are my misfits! Bullet and Snowflake are such good puppies, even when they absolutely aren’t!

For context, I AM A HOBBYIST WRITER who has openly talked about how I’m writing a book and the same supervisor said I write the best report cards… then said they feed it to AI

Found out that the report cards I write for guests at my work (dogs) that their owners PAY for have been fed into AI so the AI can rewrite it, and THAT is what is sent. Trying to think of how to ask my supervisor to stop doing that and just ask me to rewrite it if it’s too short or something

For me, a reaction from books is *probably* because it touched too much on very painful trauma (ex: pet/animal companion dying. As someone who has had to euthanize 3 pets because of cancer or complications of old age in the past 3 years, I HAVE to put the book down for a bit if “the dog dies”)

For the record, I feel this way even if I like the second ship (to support my argument, I’m commenting as someone who DOES write Moshang fic)

Personally I feel this way with most fandoms. If even a mere 70% of the fic is dedicated to ship A, having a random appearance or plot line from ship B just feels jarring. Imagine if a movie or TV show randomly introduced a previously unmentioned couple right before or during the climax then ended

It looks like what Dwarves would sound like to an Elf, but the Elf *thinks* they could either be talking about politics or a dinner party. It’s all the same to Elves.

Watching it now, actually! (At home, obviously) I do think watching it in theaters would be a good way to experience it!

El is an absolutely wonderful witch! I loved seeing her perspective and how it changes with time and as she gets to experience new situations and relationships! I *do* also enjoy Circe, especially her portrayal in a recent adaptation of the Odyssey!

Perhaps it’s because of my own mom’s taste in stories, but I *love* dark castles, especially with a touch of magic. Whether the world outside is filled with stars or stormclouds, I know that I’ll always be drawn to gothic castles and the gargoyles that watch over them.

Not sure if this counts, but I’m writing a book featuring the terror and the complications that come from a memory wipe spell! You follow three magicians who unexpectedly lose several days of memory and have to investigate why, who’s responsible, and what they’ve forgotten.

I play DnD with people across different continents. I opted for my American-based school to use the American system of recording dates and there was an amnesia plot so dates were important. In short, my players thought three MONTHS had passed rather than three days xD

For example, reading certain writers has helped me figure out how to change my “voice” to match the tone and the character perspective I’m going for. If you want to improve on worldbuilding, you should look at worlds that you enjoy and figure out how they’re developed and described!

I agree with the person above that I don’t find your work “lacking,” but I know as one writer to another that means very little. One thing I find that helps when I want to improve is to read works that do that thing well and think about *why* it’s so successful.

While I was surprised that I hadn’t heard about it before the translation, I wasn’t surprised about that aspect of his character. He is quite misogynistic and homophobic (especially in the beginning) so transphobia is to be expected (I’m trans myself, if that’s relevant)

Just wanted to add that I’m pretty sure sqq actually used a transphobic slur/term in the extras? I only read English translations volumes 1-3, so I don’t know for sure but I remember it being a point of discussion in the fandom when the fourth volume came out and more people knew about it
