Weirdcore uses themes of nostalgia and vague danger to give the viewer unease and confusion.
However, many enjoyers of weirdcore might find these themes comforting.
For that reason, weirdcore can be associated with trauma responses, such as the feeling of dissociation.

Weirdcore tends to incorporate a lot of surreal and abstract imagery, such as eyes, sparkles, simple symbols and censor bars.
This is often accompanied by confusing text, leaving the viewer with the feeling that there’s more context that they aren’t being let in on.

Weirdcore🍄👁️‍🗨️⬛✨
Popularized in the early 2020s, weirdcore combines surrealism with urban liminality. These images tend to consist of low quality photos edited to have overlapping text, images or filters, with the intent to invoke feelings such as peace, unease or confusion.
