Perhaps the extensive coverage of the spike in flu cases resulted in a change in behaviour that altered the course of the spread? Anecdotally, people in my circle were taking extra precautions not just because of the media hype but because they could see so many folk around them ill with the flu.

How do you address the issue that people want/need to stay in their local communities? Where are these unoccupied homes compared to where demand for housing is?
