Only Human
He knew he was in a jam
Though all he’d tried to do was
To create; pure melodic grace

They saw only the scoundrel
The ink that covered his skin
Draped him like a motley veil

He ran from the site, heart pounding
Hoping he wouldn’t get caught
He wasn’t who they saw anyway

He imagined himself as a Radiant
A knight from the books he loved
strapping on courage he walked away

Finally home he picked up a parchment
Dipped his quill in the ink-well
Sat down to design his next piece

It would be his personal escutcheon
One design to represent himself
The world would finally know the real him
