That's like thanking an arsonist for eventually picking up a hose, whilst holding a molotov.

Someone should do a FOIA request for the raw footage of the videos they took of that Chicago raid and then edited into a fascist ad for ICE.
wellmaywesay.bsky.social
Getting there. At 1hr5 out of 1hr25. This was so much easier when Daniel was editing!
wellmaywesay.bsky.social
That is 100% not what they're doing and you are being very silly.
wellmaywesay.bsky.social
It's risible you're running this as an analogy.
wellmaywesay.bsky.social
Which bit of rubble do you think is Hamas?

Your position is ridiculous. They weren't bringing weapons. They weren't a military threat to Israel. The only people they're in danger from are the IDF.
wellmaywesay.bsky.social
Safeguard lives from whom? Israel? Well, fair, they do wilfully bomb ambulances and aid vehicles.
wellmaywesay.bsky.social
International waters, not active combat area.
wellmaywesay.bsky.social
Gaza isn't Israel. International waters are certainly not Israel. If Israel supporters have to rely on a 2011 non-legal opinion to justify the blockade, it suggests it's not legal at all.
wellmaywesay.bsky.social
If it's not aimed at starving civilians, on what basis did they seize these ships? Also it's very obvious Israel is not allowing aid via neutral channels.

What's the basis for your claim of when "intl law" permits a blockade? Cos the long-established rule is freedom of navigation on the high seas.
wellmaywesay.bsky.social
You're the one citing that report as a legal verdict, claiming it gives Israel an exception to the fundamental principle of freedom of navigation in international waters. I'm not.

I wonder what you think "international waters" are.
wellmaywesay.bsky.social
You're the one who claims he cares about marginalised people while supporting a bloody genocide.
wellmaywesay.bsky.social
Stop pretending a report that literally states it "cannot make definitive findings either of fact or law" makes Israel's blockade legal.
wellmaywesay.bsky.social
Raising awareness of the IDF brutality in Gaza? Yeah, and the IDF certainly did plenty to confirm just how much contempt they have for international law and human rights - and is still doing so in its vicious treatment of that brave humanitarians.
wellmaywesay.bsky.social
Yeah, I read your nonsense. It doesn't make it legal.
wellmaywesay.bsky.social
No, you are. There's nothing legal about seizing people from vessels in international waters.
wellmaywesay.bsky.social
Says you, and so what if any were? Palestinians are allowed to own ships.
wellmaywesay.bsky.social
Also they hadn't passed the blockade, they were in international waters.
wellmaywesay.bsky.social
Checking doesn't mean arresting and imprisoning people on the boats when no weapons are found. That's kidnapping.
wellmaywesay.bsky.social
Second, insofar as these politicians considered the blockade at that time and exception to the rule of free navigation, it was only to stop weapons (none of which were on this flotilla) and where Israel was under "a real threat" from Gaza, which it has since obliterated.
