There was a time, 'way back, when some gangs were good.
This "rail gang' helped install and maintain the railroad tracks through Mansfield.

Earle Driskell, born in Indiana in 1883, came to Mansfield with his family in 1888. In 1907, he began a career in journalism with the Fort Worth "Star". He advocated for a county bond program to improve local roads, and a major bond was passed in 1911 that set an example for other towns.

'Way back, Main Street in Downtown did not go through, it dead-ended into a livery stable and then a lumber yard.

1885: The Fort Worth & New Orleans Railway Co. was chartered and our famous railroad trestle bridge was built. New Orleans was the planned end of the rail, but the first major objective was to connect with the Central Texas and Northwestern Railway in Waxahachie.

There are many social media groups that try to be the "voice of Mansfield", or the debate about Mansfield, or the promotional platform for Mansfield businesses.. and so on.
BUT this is not one of those. This is all about APPRECIATING MANSFIELD.

Where to start..... try our Museum in Historic Downtown. It is one of the best small museums that you will ever visit.
