Doing all this and still not managing to even be third in the polls, if ANYONE was screwing up this badly they'd have gone three or four terrible disasters ago but the Tories are insanely, pathologically stupid. Oldest political party in the world and this is the end of it.

One of the jokes in Yes Minister is that the arts like theatre, opera etc are enjoyed by the wealthy Tory-voting elites like Sir Humphrey who want to keep it that way. High art is what these guys used to want more of. It cannot be emphasised *how bad Badenoch is at this*.

Episode 3 got very low ratings for the time due to everyone watching the funeral. Nowadays I reckon it would've just been postponed.

Holmes, Saward and in more modern years Moffat all write the character of the Doctor as a canvas of common behaviour, motifs and characteristics, which works well because they write a damn good generic Doctor but for specific incarnations, I usually find era specific writers to often be the hearts.

Dicks, Bidmead, Bailey and Clegg were the writers that really got the Fifth Doctor's character down and understood who he was. Saward and Holmes basically wrote a generic Doctor and it did work to push him out of comfort, but those four get that incarnation *specifically*.

Every so often I remember just how good The Five Doctors is and reflect that it's a tragedy that Terrence Dicks didn't get to write for the Fifth Doctor more. He really nails character and writes him as a more charming, less irritable version of the Third Doctor and Davison seems to enjoy that.

I do find it very funny that RTD is currently very focused on being sensitive to modern Britain but he still loves doing Christmas specials and ramming it down everyone's throat. I dunno, it feels at odds with his own stance on inclusion. Not everyone celebrates Christmas, Russell!
