This was bouncing around in gusty wind, between Catsear flowers and stopped for a couple of minutes on the Red Clover. They are much more common on the coastal plain but maybe this one was blown a little further North to us.

I saw one at the weekend while delivering some magazines to my mum's friend. Had to dart around a lot to get a photo. Sussex

I love the cathedral-like columns and "stained glass" of this local wood at this time of year.

I've got the book too and think of it every time I see a plant taking advantage of a man-made niche.

... and they don't always look pretty at first glance. This area of rough looking grassland has many inconspicuous wild flowers and is alive with butterflies.

I also found it in Uckfield, Sussex - also where the grass had been dug up for a pipe or cable.

I found a big one and a few 1cm babies on our Purple Toadflax in our Sussex garden.
