the lexicons are in our open source repo here bsky.app/profile/wesl...

as for reinventing "collections" it feels weird to say we are "inventing" it since its a very lightweight "link" pointing between 2 records. The main challenge as I see it the UX around lexicon interop

note the "collaborators" field in the collection lexicon, which for this approach means only the author of the record can add or remove collaborators.

"Like with open source, open social is a compounding effort. Every mildly successful open social app lifts all open social apps. Every piece of shared infrastructure can benefit somebody else. At some point, open is bound to win."

We handle collections for semble with a “link” record that points from the collection record to the bookmark record, but this approach could be generalize. It would be very RDF triple like

We're also thinking about using archive/wayback machine to capture snapshots of a website at the time of bookmarking and using the changes to the website as part of the social sensemaking context that Semble can provide

very true. getting over the hump of paying for quality products is a great place to be. I'm honestly happy every time I make a search on kagi, it feels healthy in addition to being very high quality

A thoughtful review of Kagi and the reasons people stick with it long-term:

Black background with a large yellow quotation mark at the top. White text reads:
“For the last two years, I’ve used Kagi Search – and ever since, it’s been one of my absolute favourite tech products.”
“There are no ads, and no tracking. I’m in control of my search experience.”
At the bottom, quote attributed to: Erlend, havn.blog.

Some serious cooking with @bmann.ca & @ronent.bsky.social about Semble. Never thought I’d hear Boris say “my brain is mush” from too much #atproto talk. Excited to share out our roadmap for all of this.

Lots more to share very soon as well

As a language learner, I try to think about languages within a "fluency pyramid". The idea here would be to start with my least fluent language, then progressively translate into more fluent languages until the meaning of the text is understood.

A good browser extension helps a lot!

@kagi.com has a translate webapp + extension which is HUGE for language learners like myself. I can easily translate selected text or entire pages (yes, even my bsky feed) into any chosen target language. translate.kagi.com/extension

AND this is why making reviews visible (and obv user owned) is so useful

I always just have to ask them how sweet is it

Imagine a highly curated feed with no likes and no ads that optimally shows you content in a way that strengthens your attention, memory, and understanding of the world.

This is what a well-crafted spaced repetition flashcard deck is.

this actually makes me think of @andymatuschak.org and his recent essay andymatuschak.org/hmwl/

This is what the mnemonic medium and developing and sustaining a flashcard writing/review practice is about (as I see it).

Without attention regulation, there is no learning.
