What a great story. Shoes in Tommy Balls were displayed by size in large baskets. Pairs were stitched together with cotton thread through the collar of the heel. Having holes in the back of your shoes was a working class credential across East Lancashire.

Yes, it looks great. To be fair there are a lot of episodes to remember. Some are instantly recognisable from first few scenes. Others, less so.

We rented a telly from Granada. Dad went into the shop in Blackburn shopping centre once a month to pay the rent. Once a year a man in a green work coat would come and service the set, which was always exciting.
