Partly to mostly cloudy today with a low chance for a few isolated showers, especially across our northwest zones. Highs today will be in the mid and upper 60s to the low 70s. Watch for the possibility of some locally dense fog this morning, especially near the state line.

Cold front moves in this morning pushing rain showers slowly southeast through the day. Highest temperatures today will come this morning for areas south of I-96 approaching 70 before temps fall with the cold front as the day progresses.

Radar around 6 PM this evening shows stronger storms moving east across Lake Michigan, capable of gusty winds, small hail, and possible waterspouts. We are watching for gusty wind/small hail potential as these storms move onshore over the next hour or two.

BREAKING: For the first time in more than 12 years, the National Weather Service has upgraded a Tornado Damage survey to the maximum rating; EF-5!

This rating has been given to the June 20th, 2025, Enderlin, ND, tornado, which is now estimated to have packed maximum wind speeds of over 210 MPH!

Partly to mostly cloudy today with scattered showers, and perhaps a storm or 2, moving in by this evening. Highs will be in the low-mid 70s near Ludington and to near 80 along I-94. Temperatures will fall ahead of the cold front bringing the showers this evening.

⚠️ 🔥 Fire danger is elevated for some areas today thanks to the ongoing drought, unseasonable high temperatures, and breezy winds. This is especially true along the state line where a Special Weather Statement is in effect until 5:00 PM. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged.

All indications point to the idea that October will feature continued above-average temperatures and near-normal to slightly below-average precipitation. Not good news for fall weather lovers, fall colors, or the ongoing drought across the area.

As expected there is plenty of fog out there this morning with some patchy areas of dense fog as well. The rest of the day will feature a slow burn off of the fog, partly cloudy skies, and scattered showers.

Stormy at times this weekend. Showers and storms move in for areas mainly West of US-131 this evening. No severe weather is expected with this activity. Additional showers and storms will move through on Sunday and could have an isolated damaging wind and/or large hail risk.

Cloud cover increases tonight as temperatures fall into the 50s. Can't rule out an isolated shower or 2, mainly near US-127. Showers and thunderstorms move in again late tomorrow afternoon and continue at times through the remainder of the weekend.

New drought monitor update this morning shows a significant expansion of drought conditions across West Michigan. Parts of the Grand Rapids metro area and the Mt. Pleasant region are now under Severe Drought. Chances for much-needed rain increase this weekend across the area.
