Stop calling X 'Twitter'. Twitter, like the parrot of Monty Python fame, has ceased to be. Granted 'X' is problematic as a brand name, but calling the platform 'Twitter' suggests a forlorn hope that it can be what it once was once again. It can't; you might as well call Bluesky 'Twitter'.

@mlpoulter.bsky.social Nice to see you here. I came across this article, the same topic as my SITP talk in 2014. Even more alarming is it no longer involves lads in Nigeria and Ghana, but virtual hostages in cyber scam hubs in Thailand and Myanmar. www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...

Strange that when a loved one
dies a part of you dies with them

As a highly-regarded public intellectual I have just come to Bluesky and found it extremely closed-minded and unreceptive to important new ideas, including the one about what a highly-regarded public intellectual I am. Also nobody with girl names responded to my chats, which were also intellectual.

The Handmaid's Tale is a good book. But did you know that there's a book written by a Black woman about a post-apocalyptic Earth heavily affected by climate change and societal decline. The book was published in 1993, but is set in 2024 following a presidential election 👀 #BookSky #BlackBookSky
