Agree with you - I think the rule stemmed from some players faking injuries to stop the clock, but the cure for that is draconian.

Alaska, Nevada, Washington, and New Hampshire. All have stunningly beautiful scenery and have elected Democrats statewide within the last four years (and Alaska is weird because part of the legislature recently involved a coalition of Democrats and not-completely-batshit-insane Republicans).

In 2013 only two of the eight NWSL teams played in stadiums with more than 6,200-seat capacities (Thorns, Flash). In 2015 all 14 teams played in stadiums with at least 10,000-capacities. But without Portland's support for the Thorns from Day One that never happens. A rose by any other name indeed.

Still all in, too (now from SW New Mexico). Held Thorns season tickets in the North End for their first nine seasons before moving from Portland. Still most proud of that 2013 average attendance of over 13,300 per game - proved that women's professional soccer COULD work.

Without checking, I assume (1) Cuellar had expensive, competent counsel (2) was convicted by a jury (3) the judge didn't grant acquittal notwithstanding the verdict and (4) Cuellar appealed and his conviction was sustained on appeal. If those four things are true, it's dumb to say "thin evidence."

Recall that new IRS rule that churches can endorse candidates "from the pulpit" without sacrificing their non-profit status? That the Republicans thought would help protect their right-wing pastors (who were doing it anyway)? I can imagine a lot of Catholic priests endorsing D candidates in 2026.
