Security guarantees for European countries, based on the NATO article 5 model, is a great idea and sidesteps the need for Ukraine to become a NATO member. This idea will back Putin into a corner. He won't agree to it, but it may happen anyway.

By siding with Putin, Trump has just begun the march towards a larger war. Humiliating Ukraine and Europe is destructive, just like the The Treaty of Versailles, signed in 1919, that formally ended World War I. A perfect companion to the recession that's looming. Thanks MAGA.

So President sock puppet is telling the President of a sovereign nation that he is required to give up territory for peace. Jesus, the U.S., U.K., and Russia have already abrogated the agreement to protect Ukraine in exchange for their giving up nuclear weapons. Who can Zelensky trust?

If I understand the posse comitatus act, it is illegal, unless there is an insurrection, to dispatch active-duty American armed forces to the streets of any American city or municipality. Is armed self-defense justifiable in this situation?

Iran has twice the population of Iraq and a much larger armed forces with 610,000 active duty personnel. U.S. military bases in Iraq are relatively close to the border with Iran. According to Reuters, some are within a few hundred miles of the Iranian border. did we just poke a hornet's nest?

Vance says U.S. "not at war with Iran, we're at war with Iran's nuclear program." What a dumb thing to say from a graduate of Yale Law School?

The main lesson I've learned from the bombing of Iran isn't that we haven't learned from our past mistakes, it's that we've learned that the neocons always seem to be able to convince our leaders that aggression is the best path forward. To what end, I'm not sure. Violence begets violence.

I'm four chapters into "And There Was Light" by Jon Meacham and it is readily apparent that he is highlighting the threats to democracy in the years that led up to the Civil War in a way that makes the reader think about the parallels with the more recent stresses on our democracy since the 1980s.
