Key Research Areas include Black feminist thought, anti-caste studies, arts, media, cultural, and literary studies, Feminist science and technology studies, queer of color critique, transnational feminisms, indigenous feminisms, and disability studies Students receive applied professional training and mentoring in feminist and queer teaching and learning styles, student assessment, and classroom management techniques  through interactons with world-class faculty at UMD and through our colloquium series.
