Way too high still. But I am sure Elon will bring it back up - he is so intelligent, some say even more so than 47 himself. Just imagine.

What is actually in it for JD Vance himself? I know he lacks any backbone or morals, but what actual personal gain is there to align himself and the US with a rogue state like Russia?

Note: Not a single one of the disparaging comments attacks the content of Bernie's message. They have no argument. At all.

Obviously at the current stage there is still a need for some "old" energy. Be it nuclear or fossil, as the storage capacity isn't there yet. Nobody in their right mind would argue to cut off legacy energy at once.

Can you be a little more specific, please?
February 13, 2025 at 8:03 PM
Your president did multiple times though, and gave it as an example how the USAid spend is out of control. Do you see what you and I are dealing with here?
February 13, 2025 at 7:18 PM
Have you heard about a stylistic device called "rhetorical exaggeration"? Meanwhile I keep being majorly concerned about the $50m dollars worth of condoms sent to Hamas. Oh no, it's been $100m! Trump just doubled the figure. You see where I am coming from? Do you need more examples?

Which already happens to a lower degree in Brexit Britain for some time: There are always, ALWAYS, huge potential benefits to Brexit, but it sadly keeps getting mismanaged. The problem being that it was never done "properly". Nobody will ever know what that means in concrete terms.

The paradox for Trump voters will be the worse it gets the stronger the incentive to deny they were fooled so fucking hard.
Here is where our usual suspects Fox/OAN/etc will come to the rescue and provide the poor souls some explanation why they were right all along but didn't try hard enough.

Bankers were always like this. Primitive twats, Wolf of Wall Street wannabes. I'd recommend "Gary's economics" for some insight.

Electricity is a commodity based on a lot of inputs (gas, coal, nuclear, renewables, etc.) so when prices go up that can have hundreds of reasons. You should look at renewables/solar in isolation. And these have decreased considerably and will keep doing so.

Met her once. She really enjoyed the name-dropping, talked about the EU as some undemocratic institution without any concrete example, and as you can see in a previous post wouldn't stop bragging about her perceived influence. Not one for self-reflection.
January 9, 2025 at 12:17 PM
Seriously, instead of coming at renewables at all cost, why don't you just look up the latest status of renewables, and in particular solar? Simply google "Economist Solar Power" and take it from there. Then get back to me and whoever might follow along.
January 9, 2025 at 10:58 AM
Indeed. Thanks again for your insight.

It has, and it's going to get better/cheaper/more efficient, due to economics alone. More worrisome: The inevitably growing gap between your perception and reality. Thoughts and prayers.

Sorry TDS, I personally am sad to see you leave, and your thoughtful comments!
December 27, 2024 at 11:47 AM
Just looked at the graph: You may have actually had a valid point - back in 2019. But the data shown is 5 years old and that seems to be out of date.
December 20, 2024 at 6:12 PM
Well, maybe I was wrong, and you aren't clueless after all. Anyway, I took a break eating all the cats and the dogs and googled as per your instructions: Solar energy is already well worth the investment, and is predicted to become cheaper and cheaper. But now I am wondering what your point was?
December 20, 2024 at 3:29 PM
I am not an expert, and neither are you. But a battery or two per household shouldn't be much of a problem? You can also add them to the electricity grid itself. So yeah, you are likely clueless. The Economist had some articles about solar. I suggest you google it, worth a read.

How good is the book? Thinking about getting it (audiobook or "normal").
December 18, 2024 at 10:55 AM
Jesus fuck, you are completely out of your depth. For a start, check solar energy. Pretty good already, and HUGE potential.

Please go ahead, I am listening! To name a few sources and recommendations of mine: Vlad Vexler re Russia, The Economist (general stuff), The Guardian (biased but not too bad), Secular Talk (YT). Obviously much more, and see too much of the likes of Fox "News" so know they are full of shit sadly.

Hi Pallin, how's things, man? FBI agents dressed as Antifa, that's a particularly good one, cheers for that! Might be a bit like dressing up as a Communist at a Nazi rally, but I guess that makes complete sense. MAGA 4EVA!

True. With the staggeringly large number of Trump voters in real life though - is that certain?
December 14, 2024 at 4:11 AM
Hey Pallin, where are you? I miss your insightful input. I am sure I can learn a lot from you!
