I’m Thinking of Ending Things: 2 ⭐️

WTF did I just read?! It was unsettling in the start (and not in the typical slow-burn thriller way) & I kept waiting for things to click, but it just stayed weird. Not for me.

“Because even though I’ve tried to forget him, I know exactly who this man is.”

Hook, line, sinker—Meet Me at the Lake had me from the first chapter. It left me with that cozy, reflective feeling I crave from a romance novel.

The Night We Lost Him: 4 ⭐️
Moreso a commentary on grief than a thriller, but it kept me engaged like thrillers do! Great growth between characters and satisfying ending.

This matters. Not because I think Trump is capable of mercy or empathy towards these vulnerable groups. But because it is a public act of defiance.

Contrast that with all these other powerful people in this country signaling nothing but appeasement and obedience.
Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde to Trump: "I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now. There are gay, lesbian, and transgender people in Democratic, Republican, and independent families, some who fear for their lives ... and the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals"

I know this sounds weak, I know it.

But kindness is one of the few things we carry that can make a difference for each other.

We can’t undo all this hate, but we can still make life a little easier for others.
