For many cultures around the world, the end of October and beginning of November mark a time when the veil between worlds is considered very thin and communication with the spirit world is possible. Offerings of food for the ancestors is a common practice during this time.

Many cultures observe traditions at this time of year that honour the ancestors. It’s a time of gathering. It’s also for paying respects to loved ones, keeping traditions, and using food to connect the living and the dead, as it is with Pchum Ben in Cambodia.
