This is a common fear of families during the dying process, that morphine will hasten death. The patient's underlying illness and disease progression cause death, not the morphine. The drug will help improve the quality of life for patients by effectively managing pain and shortness of breath.

We should contemplate our death, and let it motivate us to really live our lives. But extreme anxiety and fear about dying can keep us from living.

Disenfranchised grief happens when a loss isn't openly acknowledged or supported by others, which can be due to a stigmatized cause of death or an unrecognized relationship. Losing a pet is a common example because others may not recognize the depth of grief for a non-human companion.

There is an emotional and psychological toll of experiencing multiple losses in a short period, preventing adequate time to heal from one loss before the next occurs. It is also known as grief overload.

If clinical death persists for more than a few minutes, it can lead to brain death, which is the irreversible loss of all brain function and activity. Brain death or biological death cannot be reversed by any means.

Although #deathbedvisions are common at end of life, those observing may feel a mixture of confusion and even sorrow, as they interact with a person who is experiencing a reality invisible to them. If you've never been with a dying person who has gone through this, you may at some point.
