I'm finally caught up on #dq25!

Part II has been a breeze to read through. The adventures are way more interesting. And I'm enjoying the focus on DQ and Sancho with fewer tangents.

Also, the Duke and Duchess are super mean. I hope they get their comeuppance, but seems unlikely.

I take it Kinbote is not a baseball enthusiast. He'd probably be baffled by "Homer" today being a reference to a cartoon character.

Also TIL about the Keats poem, it was a nice read. 🦋

I don't like Bridgerton one bit. I didn't like watching it, and I don't like thinking about it.

This chapter was a very palatable version of a Bridgerton ball scene. This I liked. 🪵

Yeah yeah universal education is nice

But I can't stand people who've read a bit of Hitchhiker claiming, "42 is the answer to life, the universe, and everything".

It's not.

It's the answer to the QUESTION of life, the universe, and everything.

Not knowing the question is what makes it funny!

"...by a decision of the court it was established and set down in solemn decrees that the workers did not exist."

Feels like something straight out of Catch-22. 💯

I really can't stand the governess's main character energy.

That said, her admiration of this kid is unintentionally hilarious. 🪛

This bit feels like how Bertie Wooster might describe Bly lake.

Just needs a "What ho" in there somewhere. 🪛

The end of Part Two really made me think about individuals following their interests and truths and how that can be at odds with the sense of community fostered by the shared ideology of a clan.

I appreciate the importance of individual agency, but something larger does seem to be lost as well. 🍠

Is it just me, or was Section 2.5 the most straightforward section we've read so far? No indecipherable detours (except Roland Feldspath's Control bit), just plain, direct story. 🚀

I put together this small trivia puzzle on my #blog. The #HotFrankSummer crowd should get ~5/13 right off the bat! 🔩
A to M - A puzzle
A was the book I just finished reading, written by B and published in 1818. The eponymous character A is often popularly confused with his creation C. The su...

I've never been in a small boat amidst the wild winds on the wavy waters of Northern Scotland, but how long do you have to be asleep to END UP IN IRELAND? 🔩

I spun my blog back up after a dormant period. Welcome, one and all!

A Hiatus Comes to an End
Today is the first of June, a month with 30 days. Per neuroscience (as I learned from an Instagram reel the other day), this is the precise number of days it...

I wonder if this is maybe (a negation of) the book's central thesis: "The labours of men of genius, however erroneously directed, scarcely ever fail in ultimately turning to the solid advantage of mankind."

That doesn't sound true at all to me (atom bombs, CFCs, etc.) but V.F. sure buys it. 🔩

Out of curiosity - were Turks in the 1800s known for their silence? #HotFrankSummer
